McKenzie Ranger District

From the junction of Hwy. 126 and Hwy. 242 (McKenzie/Santiam National Scenic Byway), travel east for 14 miles on Hwy. 242. Parking is across the highway on USFS Rd. #260. The trailhead is across the highway.

This trail goes from 4,800 feet at its start to an elevation of 6,300 feet, ending at the Pacific Crest Trail.

There are occasional heavy stands of lodgepole pine and western hemlock along the route. The trail also passes through recent lava flows and alpine meadows. There are good views of Mt. Washington and the Three Sisters.
