Take USFS Rd. #19 (Aufderheide National Scenic Byway) at milepost ? of Hwy. 126. Travel ? miles to Frissel Crossing, turn left unto USFS Rd. #1964 and continue on for 3 miles. Turn left unto USFS Rd. #456 and travel another 1/4 mile to the trailhead.

The first 2 miles of this trail is moderate to steep and is a fairly difficult climb of 2,500 vertical feet. Travel is then moderately easy on over to the Pacific Crest Trail.

This trail begins at an elevation of ? feet and ends at ? feet when it joins the Pacific Crest Trail.

The area is heavily forested. A side trail near the junction with the Mink Lake trail provides a primitive 2 mile hike into the old lookout on Pat Saddle Mtn.
