Blue River Ranger District
From Blue River take Hwy. 126 east for 3.5 miles and turn right on USFS
Rd. #19 (Aufderheide National Scenic Byway). Continue on for 26 miles to
the Box Canyon Campground. Park in the campground parking. The trailhead
is across the road adjacent to the south side of the Box Canyon Guard Station.
This trail begins at an elevation of 3,840 feet near the Box Canyon
Horse Camp - which allows equestrians to camp and then ride into the Three
Sisters Wilderness. The trail leads into the Mink Lake basin and ends in
the Horse Lake area at 5,400 feet. Many trails connect to it for access
to other parts of the wilderness.
