Blue River Ranger District
From Blue River travel east 3.5 miles on Hwy. 126, turn right on USFS
Rd. #19 (Aufderheide National Scenic Byway). Continue for 26 miles to the
Box Canyon Horse Camp. The camp and trailhead are located to the right.
This trail starts at 3,728 feet at the Box Canyon Guard Station. The
first 3 miles to the Chucksney Meadows and Chucksney Trail junction is
a steady climb. The Grasshopper Trail takes a path through meadows with
an excellent view to the south.
This trail passes through the Chucksney Moutain Roadless Recreation
Area and offers excellent opportunities for solitude and scenic views.
It terminates at 4,400 feet at the USFS Rd. #2618 & USFS Rd. #1927
junction.
