Blue River Ranger District

From Blue River go east for 3.5 miles on Hwy. 126 and turn right onto USFS Rd. #19 (Auferderheide National Scenic Byway) and follow it for 25 miles. Turn left unto USFS Rd. #1958 and continue for another 3 miles. The trailhead is to the right.

This trail begins at 4,560 feet and goes through dry lodgepole pine country, then drops steeply into the MacFarland Lakes area. The trail starts out fairly level but for the last 2.5 miles drops sharply until ending at the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 at 6,000 feet.
