Blue River Ranger District
Take Hwy. 126 east from Blue River for 3.5 miles, turn right on USFS
Rd. #19 (Aufderheide National Scenic Byway) for 0.5 miles. At the stop
sign go straight onto USFS Rd. #19-410 for 0.5 miles, turn left onto King
Rd. (2639), continue for 0.5 miles, turn right unto USFS Rd. #2639-480,
travel 4 miles to the end of the road.
The trail begins at 3,200 feet and is a moderate climb up to the top
of Castle Rock at 3,808 feet. This is the site of an old lookout and offers
a great view down into the McKenzie Valley and the community of Rainbow.
