Oregon State Police Report

12-11: Trooper Boyd spotted a vehicle hauling a large load of firewood on Hill Road. The load was partially covered with a tarp but had no visible permit attached. The driver failed to drive within his lane of travel, had no taillights on his trailer and was stopped.

The investigation revealed the two adult male subjects had unlawfully taken the wood off BLM property without a permit. The wood and some large rocks were seized and the suspects delivered it to a secure BLM facility. They were both cited and released for Unlawful Cut and Transport of Special Forest Products, which is a B misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $2,500 and six months in prison.

12-11: Tpr. Boyd followed up on an abandoned vehicle off McGowan Creek road blocking a Weyerhaeuser gate that he and Deputy Combs had found the night before. About 100 yards inside the gate a camp was found by Tpr. Boyd and Tpr. Youngblood. A female occupied the tent. The camp area had garbage surrounding it and a human waste area nearby. The other responsible person was not found but was identified. The female was cited for Criminal Trespass II and Depositing Offensive Substance on Property of Another. Charges for the male subject will be reviewed by the Lane County District Attorney's Office. While dealing with the trespass case Tpr. Boyd heard an ATV trespassing on Weyerhaeuser nearby.

Tpr. Boyd found a vehicle with a trailer parked near the gate of a nearby Weyerhaeuser gate with fresh ATV tracks going around the gate. The gate is clearly posted and has an additional sign stating "No Motorized Vehicles." The ATV was tracked for about 5 miles then located with two passengers aboard. The suspects were in the area bow hunting. One of the suspects had two outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Lane County, possessed marijuana and was operating his ATV while suspended.

Both of the suspects were cited and released for hunting while Criminal Trespassing. One suspect was additionally lodged in the Lane County Jail on the warrants and also cited for UPCS Less Than an Ounce of Marijuana, DWS, and warned for Causing Unlawful Damage with an ATV. Hunting While Criminal Trespassing is an A misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $6,250 and up to one year in jail.
